Vassar College-Strong House
Because three of our board members are Vassar College graduates, they enlisted the aid of their alma mater. Vassar’s response has been enthusiastic and supportive. A letter of support for CATS was issued by Vassar’s Education Department in December, 2006, followed by a letter of continuing support in August, 2007. In June, they bestowed the Vassar Spirit Award to our board president with the intent of focusing the alumni's attention on our rebuilding efforts. In September, they wrote a feature article in the college’s alumni magazine, the Vassar Quarterly, helping to generate support from alumnae worldwide. Currently we are working with Vassar on a teacher recruitment effort and on a professional development session. The Vassar Club of New Orleans is also coming on board to assist us with volunteer efforts. We are fortunate to be able to develop this kind of partnership with an institute that is internationally renowned and wants very much to be a part of New Orleans’ educational recovery.
